This 1967 Ford Mustang looks like no one you've ever seen before. So
when you also check out the upgrades, like the competition-inspired
interior, four-wheel disc brakes, overdrive transmission, and
fuel-injected V8, it'll soon be clear that this is a pony that has no
equal.
Electric blue and silver racing stripes look like they belong more on
a modern Shelby Mustang than an icon like this. But this modern
impression in vintage attire fits this coupe just fine. After all, the
color-matched bumpers, LED turn signals in the deluxe hood, and 17-inch
alloys are all very modern details. Plus, you have great
performance-minded pieces in the hood pins, side scoops, notched rear
bumper accommodating the deal exhaust, and the Shelby-inspired custom
front end.
Inside, there are more great speedy and modern pieces integrated into
the classic style. It starts with the modern racing bucket seats that
feature comfortable microfiber inserts and racing inspired lap belt harnesses.
There's a grippy sports steering wheel, carbon fiber center console
inserts, and an MSD controller. And the AM/FM/CD stereo not only
provides modern tunes, but also a USB input so you can do everything
from plug in your iPod to charge your phone. But even with all these
upgrades, you can see the vintage Mustang style everywhere from the door
panels to the factory gauges. So you still get that great classic
vibe.
Just like the rest of the car, the engine bay is a modern take on a
classic. That means you get Ford's 302 V8, but now it's bored over for
306 cubic-inches total. Plus, you have an MSD Atomic fuel injection
upgrade, and the digital display you saw in the interior gives you full
control over this modern delivery system. And you have great supporting
components – everything from a Mallory distributor to an aluminum
radiator. More than just a great power package, this coupe was upgraded
to handle it all. The transmission is Ford's AOD unit, so you have a
four-speed automatic that's built for power, and it can cruise in
overdrive comfort. Plus, the four-wheel disc brakes and grippy modern
tires keep control well in hand.
This is the distinct coupe that runs strong with the power of fuel
injection. It's a very cool take on a true classic and a driver quality car for your garage.
